What activities and terrain does the Hippocampe® wheelchair open up?
This ultra-versatile chair opens up many outdoor and adapted-leisure activities such as the beach, swimming, all-terrain hiking, marathons and even skiing. Thanks to its balloon tires, it can be used on sand as well as on snow.
Does the Hippocampe® chair require the help of a companion?
No, it is a wheelchair that can be used either fully independently or with assistance.
What treatments and materials were chosen to resist water and salt?
The chair has a coloured stainless-steel frame, stainless-steel wheel axles, and aluminum frame tubes specially treated to withstand seawater.
Is the chair easy to transport, and how much does it weigh?
Yes, it is compact, light and foldable. Its wheels are removable and it weighs only 17 kg total, making it much easier to transport and store.
Can it be used as an adapted stroller for children or adults?
Yes, thanks to its push bar (which is removable), it can easily serve as an adapted stroller for either a child or an adult.
How comfortable and adjustable is the seat?
The seat is made of 3 cm-thick hydrophobic foam (which does not retain water). The backrest is also both reclining and foldable for optimal comfort.
